Hearing a Big Success!

Despite an unexpected snowstorm that created some travel problems, medical marijuana advocates packed into the committee room in a strong showing of support for HB 648.  7 patients testified very courageously and effectively in support of the bill, along with a neurologist from Vermont (where medical marijuana is already legal) and others.

Here's an AP story in the Boston Herald. Read more »

HB 648 hearing scheduled!

A hearing for HB 648 has finally been scheduled:

Who: The 20 members of the House Health and Human Services Committee, supporters of HB 648, and perhaps a few opponents

What: A public hearing on HB 648, the bill protecting seriously ill patients who have a doctor's recommendation for marijuana

When: Monday, March 9, 10:00 a.m.

Where: Legislative Office Building (behind the State House in Concord, click for directions) Room 205

If dozens of respectable citizens attend and wear stickers in support, that will make a very good impression on the committee.  Contact Matt@NHCompassion.org if you have any questions, or if you've never been to the State House!

Concord Monitor, Nashua Telegraph endorse HB 648!

For a bill that has not even been scheduled for its initial hearing, HB 648 has generated a tremendous amount of excitement and anticipation!  On Friday, the Nashua Telegraph concluded a week of very good marijuana policy coverage (visit their "Pot Debate" page to see it all) with an editorial endorsement in favor of marijuana reform, and Monday the Concord Monitor added its endorsement of HB 648. Great Media Week!

When the legislature is in session, lawmakers spend at least three days a week in Concord: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Thus, it is likely that more than half the legislature was exposed to this excellent front page article in Tuesday's Concord Monitor.

We were also featured on the front page of Sunday's Eagle Tribune, and the Nashua Telegraph has been running a whole series of articles on marijuana and marijuana policy.  Check them all out here at the Telegraph's "Pot Debate" page.

For a bill that has not yet been scheduled for a hearing, HB 648 is getting an amazing amount of attention from the NH media.  A great sign!

New Video: Clayton Holton

In a new 3 1/2 minute video, Clayton Holton tells the story of how marijuana helps him fight his battle against Muscular Dystrophy. Many of you probably remember Clayton from his widely-publicized encounter with Mitt Romney on CNN... well, take a look, he's back on Youtube:
