Great letter by cancer survivor Nancy Grossman

Nancy Grossman penned this powerful letter published in the Portsmouth Herald: "We must fight for right to medicinal marijuana in N.H."  Great job, Nancy!

Telegraph asks legislators to override veto

"Gov. John Lynch said all the right things last week," this Nashua telegraph editorial begins.  It then quotes liberally from Lynch's veto message and reaches this conclusion: "But there are no words, however expertly strung together, that can alter one simple fact: The governor never had any intention of allowing this bill to become law as long as he inhabited the corner office."

Frankly, this is one of the best editorials I've ever read.  It ends with a passionate plea for legislators to override the veto:

This is one of those votes that should have nothing to do with whether you are a Democrat or a Republican; a liberal or a conservative; tough on crime or soft on crime.

No, this is one of those votes that should have everything to do with who you are as a human being and whether you can find it in yourself to put the political rhetoric aside and do the humanitarian thing.

Bill nears Gov. Lynch's desk

Kevin Landrigan's latest article for the Nashua Telegraph explains the status of HB 648 as it makes its way to the Governor: “Medical marijuana bill nearing Lynch’s desk”

Also check out this great editorial by cancer survivor Dennis Acton, who tells the 30-second version of his story in the TV ad (featured above) that has been airing across the state.

(Again) Seacoast Online Says Governor Lynch Should Sign HB 648

Another great editorial endorsement, this time from the Seacoast Online family of newspapers (Portsmouth Herald, etc.), which had already editorialized in favor:

Governor Lynch should sign the legislation allowing the use of small amounts of marijuana for medical purposes. It's the humane thing to do.

As he weighs the arguments for and against the bill, people are suffering, are in pain because the use and possession of any amount of marijuana in New Hampshire is against the law.

Technically, a cancer patient using marijuana to ease his or her suffering could be arrested.

And that's just not right.

Nashua Telegraph urges Gov. Lynch to sign HB 648

I hate to spoil the ending of this excellent editorial, but it belongs here on the front page:

"Governor, the time has come to do the right thing. Supporters of this bill have done everything you have asked. There is only one thing left to do.
Sign the bill."

New TV ad, plus news on the bill as it makes its way to Gov. Lynch's desk!

Thanks to Dennis Acton for stepping up and agreeing to tell his story in the ad shown above.  Can anybody really believe a cancer patient like Dennis should have had to fear arrest by New Hampshire police?

All eyes are on the Governor now, as Tom Fahey explains in today's Union-Leader: "Lynch at center of marijuana fight"
